BUENA VISTA, Ga. (WRBL) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting from Monday.
According to the GBI, officers from the Buena Vista Police Department (BVPD) and Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) responded to a 911 call about two people with guns threatening a homeowner.
The GBI says when authorities arrived at the scene at least one person began firing at the officers, and a BVPD officer and MCSO deputy returned fire. GBI said no one was injured. The people who fired at the officers fled.
The investigation is currently ongoing. The GBI will conduct its own investigation.
The GBI says once it completes its independent investigation it will hand over the case file to the Muscogee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
