COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Founder and CEO Mike Jones stopped by to chat with WRBL News 3's Teresa Whitaker to explain the reason behind "Motion Day," while detailing what all will be in store for the free event that's catered to the community ahead of the new school year.
Motion Day is a free community outreach event formed by Jones where free school supplies, haircuts, retwists, guidance and more are offered to the public.
Jones says Motion Day was created to help provide positive guidance to the youth as many, if not all, will face decisions everyday that could affect the outcome of their lives. And that's where Jones comes in.
"In my generation, in the youth, we use the term 'motion,' so much and a lot of these kids out here, they look up to the wrong motion, they look up to the wrong people," Jones explained.
He added, "I'm just so concerned and I would be so devastated if kids have to go through the wrong road, when they don't have to go down the wrong road, because it's two choices down that road."
The event is set to take place on Saturday, July 19 at 6001 Buena Vista Road at Abundant Life Full Gospel Outreach Church in East Columbus.
