Dapat umanong mas paigtingin ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) ang imbestigasyon nito sa mga pinangalanang personalidad sa congressional investigation matapos ang pahayag Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson na ikinukonsidera niya ang pagbibitiw bilang chairperson ng Blue Ribbon committee.
Sinabi ni House Committee on Public Accounts chairperson at Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon na maraming napangalanan sa imbestigasyon ng House Infrastructure Committee at Senate Blue Ribbon Committee na nagbigay ng linaw sa nangyari sa flood control projects ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“The series of admissions by Henry Alcantara and Roberto Bernardo before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee—building upon the initial confessions of Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza at the House Infrastructure Committee hearings—has laid bare the conspiracy of various actors: contractors, DPWH officials, legislators, and even executive officials, in the plunder of government resources for private gain,” sabi ni Ridon.
Sa imbestigasyon na pinangunahan ni Lacson, sinabi ni Ridon na natukoy ang principal participants mula sa paglalaan ng pondo sa National Expenditure Program hanggang sa Bicameral Conference Committee gayundin ang mga sangkot sa Executive department, lalo na ang mga kumokontrol sa unprogrammed appropriations.
“The departure of Senator Lacson from the Blue Ribbon Committee should now compel the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to conduct a broad, unrelenting and open sweep of all individuals named in both Senate and House hearings, to determine with precision their respective liabilities, and to recommend the filing of appropriate charges,” sabi ni Ridon.
Kumpiyansa si Ridon na magpapatuloy si Lacson sa kanyang adbokasiya para sa mabuting pamamahala at pagkakaroon ng pananagutan sa gobyerno.
Tiniyak naman ni Lacson na ipagpapatuloy ang kanyang laban kontra katiwalian kahit hindi na siya chairman ng Blue Ribbon Committee.
“No amount of criticisms from misinformed netizens and partisan sectors can distract or pressure me from doing my job right, but when my own peers start expressing their group or individual sentiments, maybe it is best to vacate,” saad niya.
“Nevertheless, I will continue to fight a corrupt and rotten system in the misuse and abuse of public funds as I have consistently done in the course of my long years in public service,” dagdag pa ni Lacson. (Billy Begas/Issa Santiago)
