The Southeastern Conference has voted to invite Texas and Oklahoma to join the league, effective July 1, 2025

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Southeastern Conference has voted to invite Texas and Oklahoma to join the league, effective July 1, 2025.

Texas and Oklahoma made a request Tuesday to join the Southeastern Conference — in 2025 —- with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey saying the league would consider it in the “near future.”

According to a tweet from the SEC Conference, the request was unanimously approved.
