AABOT sa 5.2 milyong Filipino mula sa malalayong barangay ng bansa ang matutulungan ng Barangay Development Program (BDP) sa loob ng dalawang taon.
Bilang pagtatanggol sa budget ng BDP para sa taong 2022, mariing sinabi ni National Security Adviser at NTF-ELCAC Vice Chairman Hermogenes Esperon na naging instrumento na ng pag-unlad ang programang ito ng pamahalaang Duterte para sa maraming Filipino.
Sa 2022, aabot sa 1,404 barangay ang naisama na sa BDP kung saan bawat isa ay bibigyan ng P20-milyong halaga ng mga proyekto matapos silang makalaya sa impluwensiya ng CPP-NPA.
Ang budget na ilalaan para sa BDP sa susunod na taon ay aabot sa P28.2 bilyon. Ito ay mas malaki sa kasalukuyang taon na P16.44 bilyon para sa 822 na barangay.
“Through the BDP, we at the NTF-ELCAC see that this batch of 1,406 barangays will be emancipated from the influence of the Communist Terrorists and become peaceful and productive societies. Testimonies abound from the youth, barangay captains, and local residents on the efficacy and effectiveness of the BDP,” ani Esperon.
Nilinaw ni Esperon na ang 1,406 na barangay ay dumaan sa masusing proseso na tinatawag na Community Support Program, sa pangunguna ng Armed Forces of the Philippines, mula 2020 hanggang unang quarter ng 2021.
Ang mga barangay na ito ay matatagpuan sa mga lalawigan ng Sorsogon, Bukidnon, Davao de Oro, North Cotabato, Agusan del Sur, Davao City, Camarines Sur, Surigao del Sur at iba pa.
Samantala, umaabot na sa 99.03% o P16.28 bilyon na ng BDP funds ang nailalabas na ng pamahalaan sa taon na ito.
“On the status of project implementation, I am pleased to report that despite the challenges of the pandemic, regional task forces are already facilitating the pre-procurement stage of 1,244 projects, the procurement process of 823 projects, and the implementation of 211 projects,” dagdag pa ni Esperon.
