COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- This afternoon many areas saw temperatures get to the century mark across the region as the sunny, hot and dry conditions persist. But we might see a few showers by the early morning hours.
An early morning front arrives Monday with just a few showers along with it which looks to be our best chance of rainfall through the next couple of days. Front clears the region and washes out as we see more heat across the region for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday and Wednesday we could see more triple digits across the region with just a stray shower or storm possible; however, a better chance of showers and storms arrive as a front noses closer by the end of the week.
Rainfall has been sparse for the month of June only seeing 0.46” of rainfall for the month. That has caused abnormally dry conditions to creep in which is an early sign to a drought if rainfall is not expected soon. While the month has been very dry, we still have surplus for the year thanks to a very wet winter.
Temperatures throughout the extended forecast remain in the mid 90s as another ridge of high pressure looks to build in across the southeast by the upcoming weekend.
