FATHER'S DAY: Hot and toasty, but some relief in sight

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Hottest temperatures so far this year were felt this afternoon with mid to upper 90s and heat index values into the lower 100s. Heat wave doesn’t break just yet another hot day in order for the remainder of the weekend.

Temperatures again tonight will be rather mild in the mid 70s under partly cloudy skies. Rain chances are very limited tomorrow with mostly sun and a few cumulus clouds likely.

Start of the week will see more cloud cover with just a stray shower or storm on Monday before mostly dry conditions set in for the week. Temperatures do return more seasonal by the midweek with lower 90s and partly sunny skies.

Extended forecast could become tricky as we watch some tropical activity start to heat up. For this uncertainty we have added a few stray showers and storms for the upcoming weekend.
