Trending warmer with afternoon pop-up thunderstorms

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Locked in the clouds with overcast skies for most of the day Saturday. Staying cloudy overnight with a few light showers as a weak front remains stalled across the southeast.

Sunday remains unsettled with morning clouds then gradual peaks of sunshine throughout the afternoon letting temperatures climb into the mid 80s. Expect afternoon pop-up thunderstorms aided by daytime heating for Sunday afternoon and evening. Coverage should be spotty to isolated.

Next week we see temperatures gradually increase each afternoon with the addition to afternoon pop-up thunderstorms as our weather pattern sees a return to summer-like conditions. With the added humidity, you might run into areas of patchy fog for several mornings as well.

A front does drop in late in the week helping to bring maybe a day of relief from the afternoon rain and storms. However, with the frontal passage we see that pesky northwest flow pattern setup across the region. Will need to watch for thunderstorm complexes for the upcoming weekend.
