Opelika Police arrest three people in connection with multiple armed robberies

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) — Opelika Police have arrested three people in connection with armed robberies that took place over the holiday weekend.

19-year-old Khamani Martrez Key of Opelika, Alabama,  20-year-old Arquavious O’Neal Finley of Auburn, Alabama and an unnamed juvenile suspect were all arrested and charged with first degree robbery on Sept. 3.

According to police the charges stem from multiple robberies that took between Aug. 31 and Sep. 2. Robbery victims all say the men wore black masks and drove a red vehicle. The men were said to be armed with guns and forcibly took cell phones and wallets.

Police say they arrested the men after a officer with the Opelika Police Department responded to a robbery in the 1800 block of Trimble Street.

According to the OPD, the officer saw a red vehicle that matched the description of the one used in the robberies. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the officer found evidence from the robberies. Key, Finley and the juvenile were then arrested.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are pending.
