COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A year long investigation into the shooting death of a 21-year-old from last year has lead to an arrest.
Jadarious Greene, 19, was arrested by the U.S. Marshall's Task Force Tuesday morning. Greene is being charged with murder and possession of the firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the shooting death of Javon Smith from last September.
Smith was found dead by police officers responding to call of a person down in the 3400 block of 8th Avenue. Police say Smith died due to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.
According to Columbus police, the Violent Crimes Unit took over the case and established probable cause to issue warrants for Greene's arrest.
Greene is scheduled to make an appearance in Recorder's Court this week.
