COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A local nonprofit took to the golf course on Thursday for its fourth annual fundraising tournament.
Proceeds from the tournament went to Safehouse Ministries' efforts in providing food and shelter for local people in need.
The executive director of Safehouse described some of the ways the organization provides assistance.
"There's a lot of people that need to get a meal. There's a lot of people that need housing," said Executive Director Neil Richardson. "So our shelters, we have 213 shelter beds here in Columbus. We have a free state, licensed and nationally accredited substance abuse programs. I guess the only free program in the southeastern United States with that level of certifications. And so, yeah, we need to give a free treatment program and free shelter beds. We need to make some money."
Safehouse Ministries has been serving the Columbus community for the past fifteen years.
