COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A housefire early Sunday morning left a family of four displaced, including a 16-year-old who remains in the hospital as of Thursday evening, according to Columbus Fire & EMS Fire Marshal/Division Chief John Shull.
Shull says the department responded to the fire on Branton Woods Drive at about 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, a 16-year-old male was removed from the fire and taken to the hospital, Shull tells WRBL.
A total of four people were displaced in the fire. The cause and origin of the fire has not yet been identified and the investigation remains ongoing. The house did sustain significant damage, according to Shull.
This is what Shull had to say on his department's response to the fire.
"They did an outstanding job of extracting the victim from the fire, treating the patient," Shull told WRBL. "And transporting him to the hospital."
