Kamara huhukayin P12B gastos ng Deped

Pinaiimbestigahan ni House Assistant Majority Leader at Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun sa House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability ang umano’y unsettled financial transaction ng Department of Education (DepEd) na nagkakahalaga ng P12.3 bilyon.

Ayon kay Khonghun ang mga transaksiyon na na-red flag ng COA ay nangyari noong pinamumunuan pa ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang DepEd.

“The red flags keep piling up. First, it was P125 million in confidential funds spent in just 11 days at the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Now, COA has flagged over P12 billion in unresolved transactions at DepEd under Duterte’s leadership. This isn’t just an oversight—it’s a pattern of seemingly financial mismanagement,” sabi ni Khonghun.

Sinilip ng COA sa 2023 annual audit report nito ang pagkabigo ng DepEd na tugunan ang mga notice of suspension, disallowance, at charge sa P12.3 bilyong pondo, hanggang noong umalis si Duterte bilang kalihim ng DepEd. Ito ay mas malaki sa P11.4 bilyon na sinilip ng COA noong 2022.

Naniniwala si Khonghun na ang mga dumaragdag na ebidensiya kaugnay ng mismanagement ng pondo ay lalong nagpapatibay sa impeachment case na inihain ng Kamara laban kay Duterte sa Senado.

Hinimok ng solon ang Senate impeachment court na tingnan din ang mga puna ng COA kaugnay ng paggamit ng pondo ng DepEd noong pinamumunuan pa ito ni Duterte.

“This COA report is damning. It exposes large-scale financial mismanagement in an agency with the largest budget in government. VP Sara must explain these findings, and the Senate must ensure accountability at the highest levels,” sabi ng solon.

Ang House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, na pinamumunuan ni Manila Rep. Joel Chua, ang nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa P125 milyong confidential fund na ginastos ng OVP sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong Disyembre 2022. (Billy Begas)
