Auburn family sets Guinness World Record with most premature surviving quadruplets

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) - An Auburn family has made medical history — and earned a Guinness World Record — after welcoming the most premature surviving set of quadruplets ever recorded.

Lainey, Kali, Lennon, and Koen Bryant were born at just 23 weeks and 4 days gestation — 115 days early — on May 31, 2024, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The milestone, officially confirmed by Guinness World Records on June 11, surpasses the previous record of 104 days, held since 1997 by an Australian family.

The quadruplets, lovingly known as the “Quads of Aubs,” each weighed just over one pound and spent months in the Level IV NICU at UAB. They battled life-threatening complications, including lung immaturity, heart defects, infections, and surgeries. After several harrowing months, all four were discharged home by Christmas 2024.

Now, the quadruplets are thriving one-year-olds. The Bryants recently celebrated their first birthday with four tiny smash cakes and a house full of love.

Back in April 2024, the Bryants shared their story with WRBL News 3 as they prepared for the arrival of their rare, naturally conceived quadruplets. In the heart of Auburn, Lavareis Bryant — a beloved school resource officer known for his bravery during a road rage incident near a local school — and his wife Becca, a dedicated cardiovascular ICU nurse, were stunned to learn they were expecting four babies.

In an unforgettable ultrasound appointment, the couple discovered the news. Becca, who suspected twins based on early lab results, recorded the moment on video — expecting to settle a playful bet with her husband, who thought they’d have just one baby. But when the ultrasound tech announced four heartbeats, Lavareis could only say, “What do you mean four?” before joking that he got “really hot” in the doctor’s office.

Multiple births run in their family — Lavareis is a twin himself, and his sister has also had twins.

Now, the quadruplets are thriving one-year-olds. The Bryants recently celebrated their first birthday with four tiny smash cakes and a house full of love. With seven children and a record-breaking story to tell, the Bryants say they are grateful every day — and proud to see their miracle babies make history.
