PLAINS, Ga. (WRBL) — Officials with Jimmy Carter National Historical Park announced on Monday that it has opened the Carter Gardens section of the Carter Home and Gardens. The Carter Gardens is open to the public, while the Carter Home remains closed.
Park officials advises the public, anyone who would like to visit the final resting place of the Carters can do so between 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST, seven days a week. Visitations are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
Officials say that parking is limited, but available along Woodland Drive for passenger vehicles only. There is no parking permitted for oversized vehicles, RVs or buses.
One way traffic will be in effect on the property with entrance from U.S. 280, according to officials.
Park officials also advises to the public that there are no public restroom facilities available, while restrooms and additional parking for oversized vehicles are located at Plains High School or Downtown Plains.
