Midday Interview: Columbus PD invites public to 'National Night Out'

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Sgt. Angela Florence with the Columbus Police Department dropped by WRBL News 3 to invite the public out to the city's "National Night Out."

The event allows the public and leaders in the community to connect and fellowship with police officers. National Night Out happens annually on the first Tuesday in August.

Columbus PD plans to have 31 stops around the city as officers look to connect with various neighborhoods through a fun-filled night.

"The law enforcement officers love it, and you get to see them relax in their element, just having fun and enjoying it, serving the community. We love it," said Florence.

National Night Out is set to take place on Aug. 5, starting at 5 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center.
