COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)- Following another day with temperatures rising into the 80s and a few afternoon showers, get ready for much of the same tomorrow.
Monday: Temperatures will remain in the 80s for the start of the week. Scattered showers and storms will build in the afternoon, bringing a chance for heavy rain at times.

Rest of the Week: The lower 90s will return by Wednesday as more sunshine is expected to return to the forecast. A few afternoon showers will still be possible, but they will be more isolated.
Readings will rise in the mid-90s by Friday and will remain stable through next weekend. With plenty of humidity, the heat index temperature will be near 105 degrees once again.

Tropics: The system off the coast of Africa, also known as AL97 or Invest 97L, is continuing to show signs of organization this afternoon. It will continue west towards the Cabo Verde Islands. It now has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm later this week. If it becomes a named storm, it will be called Erin. The second system in the central Atlantic still has a 20% chance and remains disorganized.
