Inisyuhan umano ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ng show-cause order si Derek kaugnay ng isang luxury sports car na Porsche 918 Spyder na nadiskubreng gumagamit ng di tugmang plaka.
Bagamat nakarehistro pa rin ang sasakyan sa pangalan ng aktor, lumitaw na naibenta na raw ito sa isang negosyante, kaya’t pinapaharap sila upang magpaliwanag at isinailalim sa 90-araw na suspensyon ang kanilang lisensya.
Ipinaskil ni Derek ang kanyang opisyal na reaksyon sa isyung ito sa kanyang Instagram story kanina.
Pahayag ni Derek, “Ive seen the issue regarding the 918 spyder on social media. I do not drive any cars with fake plates. All my vehicles have proper plates. Pls carefully read the statement issued by Ito to properly understand what is happening.
“I have not yet received any show cause order but i will cooperate and appear when requested. To the LTO i apologize for what is going on. Driving with fake plates is wrong and should not be tolerated.” (Julie Bonifacio-Gaspar)
