Straightforward ang mga sagot ni Richard Yap sa bawat tanong sa kanya tungkol sa paglipat niya sa GMA-7.
Bakit nga ba pinili niyang maging Kapuso?
Ayon sa kanya, ito raw ang logical choice.
"GMA has been there for a long time, and they’ve been doing a lot of shows for a long time.
"Of course, I will choose a more stable network.
"I think, that’s the main reason for us to choose GMA over other networks.”
Nakausap ng ilang entertainment press, kabilang ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), sa pamamagitan ng isang Zoom interview noong December 22, 2020.
Bukod sa GMA-7, aminado itong may mga offers siyang natanggap mula sa ibang networks, tulad ng TV5 at sa mismong pinanggalingang network, ang ABS-CBN.
"Actually, there’s about two or three offers from different networks. But I think, going to GMA-7 was the easiest choice. The others were just starting out, the others were doing blocktime, while GMA is doing everything by itself.
"So I think, on the practical side, yun talaga ang inisip namin, we'd rather go to the one that is established na. Kasi, yung iba, blocktimer lang, yung iba naman, nag-start pa lang, so, they might find it difficult to go against a big network such as GMA-7.”
Excited siya dahil marami raw inilatag na plano para sa kanya.
Ayon sa Filipino-Chinese actor, “You know what, I’m excited to do a lot of things with Kapuso network because they’ve been opening a lot of interesting avenues for me to do, like, we want to explore other genres that I can come out with.
"So I’m looking forward to doing new shows and doing them also with a lot of new people that I haven’t had the chance to work with."
Gagawin pa rin niya ang mga dating ginagawa sa pinanggalingang network, tulad ng romcom?
"I'm sure there will be a time that I’ll be doing romcom, but we’re thinking of doing a lot of other things also, like comedy, maybe, action. But right now, may mga comedy tayong ginagawa."

"I think, most of the comments na nakuha ko, mga ninety-eight percent siguro, positive. There are few lang na ayaw nilang lumipat ako.
"Well, usually kasi sa mga fans yun because of the love team. Pero, aside from that, mostly positive comments."

Kilala si Richard na may ka-love team sa pinanggalingang network. Pero ngayong isa na siyang Kapuso, sino naman sa mga Kapuso leading ladies ang gusto niyang makasama?
"Actually, marami sila, e,” nakangiti niyang sabi.
"Of course, wala namang bayad ang mag-aspire. I’m just hoping I can work with Heart Evangelista, Marian Rivera, Solenn Heusaff, Jennylyn Mercado, Rhian Ramos, Lovi Poe. Actually, kahit sino sa kanila. Ang dami namang magagaling."
Sa mga Kapuso male stars, sino naman ang mga gusto niyang makasama?
"Number one talaga riyan, si Michael V because I’ve been a fan of Bubble Gang for a very long time."
Sa huli, tinanong rin si Richard kung kumusta ito sa loob ng sampung buwan na may pandemic. Naapektuhan rin ba siya?
"Generally, everything has been good. We’re so blessed that we’re still alive and healthy."
Ang naapektuhan raw ay ang mga restaurants niya, at siyempre, ang trabaho niya.
"Sa pagpapatuloy ni Richard, "But, of course, our businesses have suffered for a while, especially during the lockdown. Slowly it’s recovering so the past few months have been a little bit easy for us.
"In terms of work naman, we haven’t been able to do as much work because the industry has been slowing down also because of the lockdown.
"It’s only this past month or two that I did a movie with GMA stars also, RitKen [Rita Daniela, Ken Chan].
"Generally, it’s okay, I cannot say that anything bad has happened, so I’m just very thankful."
