UPDATE: All 5 inmates recaptured following Georgia prison escape

UPDATE 11/17/2021 10:30 a.m. The remaining three suspects have been found and are back in custody.

Authorities in Georgia have captured all five inmates who escaped from a jail late Friday.

The Warner Robins Police Department says Tyree Williams Jr. was captured around midnight Wednesday.

He was among five men with violent criminal histories who broke out of the Pulaski County Detention Facility in central Georgia.

Sheriff Danny Brannen said the inmates attacked two guards, took car keys and fled.

WMAZ-TV reports that Dennis Penix Jr. and Brandon Pooler were found Tuesday afternoon hiding in the back of a mobile home in Warner Robins.

Police say Lewis Wendell Evans III and Tyree Jackson were arrested on Sunday.


UPDATE 11/15/2021 1:00 a.m. Two of the five inmates who escaped a correctional facility over the weekend in Pulaksi County are now back in custody.

According to officials with the GBI, Lewis Wendell Evans III has been captured. Evans was taken into custody late Sunday night in Warner Robins. Tyree Jackson was taken into custody on Sunday, also in Warner Robins.

The search continues for the remaining three escaped inmates: Tyree Williams, Jr., Dennis Penix, Jr. and Brandon Pooler.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5000 for information leading to the direct arrest of any of the wanted escapees.


UPDATE 11/15/2021 1:00 a.m. - The GBI has issued a correction in regards to the inmate who has been captured after escaping a Pulaski County prison. Tyree Jackson has been captured, not Tyree Williams. Tyree Williams is still at large along with Lewis Evans, Dennis Penix, and Brandon Pooler.


UPDATE 11/14/2021 8:25 p.m. - One of the five inmates who escaped a Georgia prison in Pulaski County has been captured. According to GBI officials, Tyree Jackson is now in custody in Warner Robins, Ga.

Officials say the search for the other four inmates, Tyree Williams, Lewis Wendell Evans, Brandon Pooler, and Dennis Penix, Jr. continues.

PULASKI COUNTY, Ga. (WRBL) - A Blue Alert has been issued following the escape of several inmates from a Georgia prison.

According to the GBI, five inmates escaped from Pulaski County Law Enforcement Center in Hawkinsville, Ga. on Saturday morning. The facility is located at 34 Badge Blvd in Hawkinsville and is around two hours east of Muscogee County.

The names of the escaped individuals are: Tyree Williams, Tyree Mantan Jackson, Lewis Wendell Evans, Brandon Pooler, and Dennis Penix, Jr.

According to the GBI, all of the escaped individuals have "violent" histories and two are murder suspects.

CBS Macon affiliate, WMAZ reports Williams is charged with felony murder and home invasion in connection to an incident that happened in January 2020 in Pulaski County.

According to WMAZ, Dennis Penix, Jr. is charged in a double homicide described as "a drug deal gone wrong" in Pulaski County in 2017.

The escapees stole a white 2015 KIA Sedona Van with a Georgia Tag CMP8628, according to officials.

All of the men should be considered extremely dangerous and no one should approach them. Anyone who sees any of the men should call 911 immediately.
