Buwis sa petrolyo tinutulak alisin

Kung hindi umano aalisin ang buwis sa produktong petrolyo, maaaring ito ang pumatay sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Makabayan senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares, kapag nagpatuloy ang pagtaas ng produktong petrolyo ay magmamahal din ang presyo ng mga bilihin kaya mababawasan ang mga Pilipino na may kakayahang bumili ng kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan.

Bukod aniya sa excise tax, posible ring pag-aralan ng gobyerno ang pag-alis ng 12% value added tax (VAT) na ipinapataw din sa produktong petrolyo.

“With businesses still trying to recover from the pandemic, the continuing levy of these taxes will kill our economy. Kapag mataas ang bilihin dahil sa presyo ng gasolina, mas lalong walang bibili ng mga produkto sa merkado,” ani Colmenares.

Ang ipinapataw na excise tax sa diesel ay P6 kada litro, P10 kada litro naman sa gasolina, at P5 kada litro ng kerosene.

“As gas prices are now bordering towards P70 a liter, suspending the excise tax and VAT can decrease the cost to a little over P51 per liter. That’s almost P20 of relief for every consumer.” (Billy Begas)
