Nag-resign na si Vivian Velez bilang director-general ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) last Tuesday afternoon.
Inanunsyo ni VV ang kanyang resignation sa Facebook page ng FAP at inaming hindi naging madali ang naging stint niya sa nasabing organisasyon lalo pa nga’t nagkaroon pa ng pandemic.
“I would like to take this opportunity, first and foremost, to thank the Board of Directors of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for providing me the opportunity to serve as Director General of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP). It was a very challenging stint, to say the least, and the pandemic did not make it any easier, either,” simula ng statement ni Vivian.
Sinabi rin niyang walang source of income ang organisasyon at wala ring suporta ng government para maka-survive.
“There are still a lot of work to be done at FAP, in fact, too many to count. The organization continues to be not self-sustaining and will never survive without intervention, at this point. It has no credible source of income, or, government support to make ends meet. The next DG will surely have his work cut out for him, or her,” she said.
“I have submitted my irrevocable resignation last May 2022. Mr. Manny Morfe, FAP Treasurer, is the acting Officer -In-Charge while the board of CCP is deliberating on who will replace me as DG.
