COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Dodging a few showers and storms for the remainder of the evening and tonight as we see summer-like conditions across the southeast. Staying mild with temperatures falling into the mid 60s by Sunday morning.

For the remainder of the weekend, transitioning more into a pseudo-zonal weather pattern, which means the movement of air is west to east in the upper air pattern. Stray showers and storms will be possible throughout this period into the start of the week with air mass thunderstorms aided by daytime heating.

Brief lull in the rain chances by the midweek as the ridge of high pressure builds back from the south. With that, temperatures will be allowed to warm back into the lower 90s by Wednesday. Potentially becoming the warmest day of the season so far.

End of next week, we are watching for another good chance of showers and/or thunderstorms as another shortwave slides into the southeast. Any rainfall at this point would be beneficial with May typically our second driest month of the year.
