Becoming sunny and dry for the start of the week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- For the remainder of the evening, clouds will move out over time as the low pressure system rotates and lifts eastward.

Week ahead becomes dry, sunny and warm as high pressure takes hold of the weather pattern. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s and by the extended forecast expect those readings to tip the 90 degree mark.

With several days to dry out, this year continues to be very wet with the surplus streak continuing to roll into May. With May usually one of the driest months for the year we are sitting at nearly a 2” surplus so far which helps but the yearly total over a foot, 14.46” to be exact.

While the rain chances hold off for the majority of the week, our next system arrives Friday and into the weekend with a few showers and storms.
