Man arrested on burglary and theft charges, gets caught with stolen items from inside Auburn home

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – The Auburn Police Department said a 24-year-old man was arrested after police caught him red-handed with stolen items on him after receiving a burglary report shortly before his arrest.

Police found and arrested Erik Javier Vallejo on warrants charging him with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft of property.

Vallejo's arrest resulted from the police department receiving a residential burglary report on Wednesday. Auburn Police Officers spoke with a victim who explained that someone had broken into a residence on Lake Street and stole items from inside.

Not long after receiving the initial report about the burglary, police responded to a"suspicious persons call" on West Longleaf Drive. Officers found Vallejo, who at the time had stolen items from the Lake Street residence on him.

After an additional investigation, police arrested Vallejo and charged him with the criminal offenses mentioned earlier. Following his arrest, law enforcement took Vallejo to the Lee County Jail where he is held on a $4,000 bond.
