Land Bank Authority and Columbus Consolidated Government partner to bring free estate planning services to homeowners

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Land Bank Authority and Columbus Consolidated Government are offering homeowners age 62 and older a chance to receive free estate planning services.

The planning workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Columbus Public Library on Macon Road.

Participants can register by emailing LandBankAuthority@columbusga.org using the subject line: Heirs Property Registration and providing the names of the attendees. The City says workshop attendance is required to receive services and says services are limited.

The City says the goal of this workshop is to provide homeowners with the estate services such as writing a last will and testament, creating trusts to manage any assets they would like to leave to relatives, establishing power of attorney and healthcare directives.

According to the City, this is an effort to secure and preserve property rights, increase generational wealth, economic value and community stability.
