Democratic VP candidate Tim Walz planning Tuesday campaign stop in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Democratic vice-presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz is planning a campaign stop in Columbus Tuesday, multiple sources familiar with the plans told WRBL.

After WRBL posted the story, the Harris-Walz campaign confirmed the visit.

The Minnesota governor is planning two-city swing through Georgia seven days out from the Nov. 5 election. He is also planning a stop in Savannah earlier in the day.

Details of the Walz stop have not been released, but sources say it is being billed as an early-voting event.

More than 2.7 million Georgians have already cast ballots in the election during early voting. That early voting period ends on Friday, Nov. 1.

Georgia is one of seven battleground states that will likely determine the outcome of the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Trump lost Georgia to President Joe Biden by less than 12,000 votes four years ago.

Harris and Walz have been working Georgia hard. She was in the state Thursday for a large rally with former President Barrack Obama in metro Atlanta.
