COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Democratic Vice President nominee Tim Walz is gearing up to make a campaign stop in Columbus on Tuesday.
A week out from early voting, Walz will be making the case in battleground Georgia for his running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Walz is having a closed-community event, as well as a public rally at Columbus Convention & Trade Center.
It comes less than 24 hours after Republican and Former President Donald Trump held a rally at Georgia Tech.
Walz and Harris are in the final leg of a 100-day sprint to the Nov. 5 election.
Harris jumped to the head of the ticket in late July when president Joe Biden pulled out of the race after questions arose about his mental fitness to serve.
Georgia is one of seven states – the others are north Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona – that appear too close to call a week out.
According to Georgia officials, early voters in the Peach State surpassed 2.73 million on Monday.
Walz is the Minnesota governor. He has an army national guard background and was a career educator and high school football coach. He was in Wisconsin yesterday, doing a country over party event.
