Harris County Softball wins GHSA State Championship

COLUMBUS (WRBL) - The Harris County Tigers are your 2024 GHSA 4A Softball State Champions! The Tigers have had a long road to get to this point, falling in the final round ahead of the State Championship series the past two seasons. However, the 2024 season has been fantastic for Harris County, as the Tigers went 9-1 against region opponents.

In the playoff matchups, the Tigers did not disappoint. In the first round, the Tigers took down Ola 3-2 to advance to the Elite Eight. Harris County would then have their first matchup against Eastside, where the Tigers would be victorious 7-4. That victory would put Eastside in the loser's bracket. The Tigers would then tangle with the Patriots on Sunday, winning that game in a dominant 9-0 final.

Harris County would be the only remaining undefeated playoff team entering play Saturday, which meant their opponent for the championship series would be decided first. That game saw Northside fall to Eastside 9-1.

Harris County wouldn't waste any time after getting to the plate, Lani Dansby led off the Tiger offense with a solo homer to start the day. The Tigers would continue to pour it on, including Dansby who once again hit a blast in the second inning to make the score 4-0. Brooke Miller would have a deep blast of her own, a two-run shot in the third, which put the Tigers ahead 6-0. From there, victory was never in doubt.

Harris County won the state championship game in an 8-0 shutout. A fitting end to a dominant season.
