COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Wednesday Morning! Now that the snow has settled and the system has cleared we are starting the day with frigid and icy conditions. Temperatures are falling into the teens and 20s across the viewing area, but the bigger impact will be wind chills in the single digits and not traveling is advised until area roadways can be treated.
Today’s forecast will be cold and sunny with highs getting above freezing shortly after midday. However, most of the snowfall will take days to melt. Highs reach the upper 30s later this afternoon before becoming frigid and cold again overnight with lows again projected to fall into the teens and 20s.
Thursday we pick up some passing cloud cover, but temperatures do become warmer with readings in the low 40s. Overnight lows still take quite a dip into the 20s, before readings warm again by Friday afternoon. It’s not until the weekend until we return temperatures to the 50s for afternoon highs.
Our next chance of rainfall arrives early next week and thankfully this system will be all rain with high temperatures pushing 60 degrees in some areas.
