Beauregard man allegedly stabs and kills roommate during fight 

BEAUREGARD, Ala. (WRBL) – A deadly stabbing in the early hours of Sunday morning has left one man dead and another in custody, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:34 a.m. on February 9, reporting a stabbing in the 900 block of Lee Road 147 in the Beauregard community. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 41-year-old Cory Vernon Rogers inside the residence with multiple stab wounds to his chest, side, and back. Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies took 34-year-old Daniel Ray Metcalf into custody on-site after he allegedly admitted to stabbing Rogers. Witnesses told investigators that the two men, who were roommates and both from Opelika, had been engaged in a verbal argument which turned into a physical altercation. During the fight, Metcalf allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Rogers multiple times.

Metcalf was transported to the Lee County Detention Center, where he has been charged with murder. He is currently being held without bond.
