LaGrange mayor addresses community following weekend shooting that left one person dead

LAGRANGE, Ga. (WRBL) — LaGrange Mayor, Jim Arrington, has addressed the community after an early Sunday morning shooting that left one person dead and injured six others.

Police say they responded to reports of gunshots at 105 Seminary Street. All victims involved in the shooting were taken to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center for further treatment.

Javeon Dukes, 19, passed away shortly upon arrival at the medical center.

"Our hearts are hurting today," Mayor Arrington said. "On behalf of the entire City of LaGrange, I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of Javeon Dukes whose life was tragically taken far too soon. We're also lifting other young victims of this senseless violence."

Police say one of the victims remain in critical condition.

The Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating to determine the factors of the incident and identify a suspect.
