Auburn University unveils $77M College of Education building

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) - Celebrating the grand opening Tuesday afternoon, Auburn University’s College of Education will unveil its new 167,000-square-foot instructional and research facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the $77-million structure.

The new College of Education building is located at the corner of West Samford Avenue and Duncan Drive. Formerly, the site was home to the Hill Residence Hall complex. Construction began in 2023. The state-of-the-art facility includes modern and collaborative classrooms, instructional laboratories, research spaces, up-to-date technology, and administrative offices for faculty and staff.

University President Christopher B. Roberts, Board of Trustees President Pro Tempore Jimmy Sanford, and College of Education Dean Jeffrey Fairbrother will speak during the event. Following the ceremony, guests will be able to tour classrooms, suites, and meeting spaces on the first two floors.

The College of Education boasts a 95% teacher certification eligibility rate, ranks in the Top 6% of U.S. News & World Report’s online graduate education programs, maintains a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and holds the #12 kinesiology doctoral program ranking in the nation. Faculty and students are engaged in 96 sponsored projects, driving research and innovation.

Graduates are prepared for careers as educators, administrators, health professionals, counselors, rehabilitation specialists, and more.
