Hinimok ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Hinimok Benhur Abalos ang dalawang heneral ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at walo pang pulis na mag-leave of absence habang nakabinbin ang imbestigasyon sa 990 kilo ng shabu haul na katumbas ng P6.7 bilyon na nakumpiska sa drug raid noong Oktubre noong nakaraang taon dahil may “massive attempt to cover-up” ang kaso.
Sa isang press conference, ipinakita ni Abalos ang isang closed circuit television (CCTV) footage na nagsisilbing ebidensya sa fact-finding board na pinamumunuan ni National Police Commission Vice Chairperson Alberto Bernardo kung saan nakita sa site ang ilang opisyal ng Philippine National Police noong araw. ng mga operasyon.
“Parang iba ang nangyari dun sa mga report na na-file ng PNP kasama na ang mga dokumento at mga testimonials na ibinigay ng police officers,” ayon kay Abalos.

“I am giving them within this week to file their leave of absences pending investigation. Kung hindi magli-leave, sususpindehin natin sila,” ayon kay Abalos at iginiit na ang kaniyang panawagan para sa leave ay upang mapanatili ang integridad ng imbestigasyon at ng mga piraso ng ebidensya.
Naniniwala rin ang kalihim na hindi lamang ang nasabing mga pulis ang sangkot sa kaso.
