COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Enjoying some cooler and drier air across the region thanks to a front that has stalled to our south. Many locations are coming in with readings in the upper 60s and low 70s this morning under clear skies.
This afternoon will be another hot one as temperatures climb back into the upper 90s. We’ve already seen five straight days of 97 degrees or hotter. That streak will likely last through Wednesday before we drop back into the mid 90s.
Week ahead remains mostly dry through the first half before rainfall chances increase by the end of the week. Stalled front to our south will begin to lift northward around Thursday before a stronger cold front arrives this weekend. Isolated showers and storms are likely for Friday and Saturday.
Keeping an eye on the tropics. We are watching Potential Tropical Cyclone Five which will likely develop into a storm later this afternoon/evening. It will gain the name Ernesto when it does. However, the good news is that the storm looks to curve northward as it’s hooked by the Bermuda High this week.
