COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A wanted murder suspect was taken into custody on Thursday over a year after a deadly shooting on Double Churches Road.
Police say Andrew Crowell, 20, was arrested in Henry County and extradited back to Columbus. He is being charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
This is the second arrest made in this shooting. Akiraon Reed was taken into custody in late 2023.
On Aug. 31, 2023, police responded to the intersection of Double Churches Road and Rock Springs Drive about a man in a car with blood. Officers found 16-year-old Dayton Willis had been shot multiple times.
Willis was pronounced dead on the scene.
Crowell is set to appear in Recorder's Court on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
