South Carolina man allegedly hit person with frozen pizza rolls in Walmart checkout line

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Conway man was arrested on New Year's Eve after he allegedly assaulted two people in a Walmart checkout line, hitting one of them with a bag of frozen pizza rolls, according to Conway police.

Jeremiah James Harris, 27, was charged with assault of a high and aggravated nature, disorderly conduct, and third-degree assault and battery. He remained in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center as of Friday morning.

The two victims told officers they were in line at Walmart and asked Harris what line he was in, a police report said. Harris then allegedly responded with profanity, and as the victims were checking out their items, he hit one of them in the face with a grocery bag that had frozen pizza rolls in it.

When one of the victims tried to defend himself, the report said Harris hit him in the face and took him to the ground, repeatedly kicking and stomping him, according to an arrest warrant.

The other victim tried to intervene but Harris hit her in the face and pushed her into a checkout station, the report said. When officers arrived, the woman had redness on her face and the man had blood on his mouth.

The conditions of the victims were not available because information in the report was redacted. An EMS crew responded to the scene.

News13 reached out to Walmart about the incident, and a spokesperson said, "The safety and well-being of our customers and associates is a top priority. We're aware of this incident and violence of any kind in our stores cannot be tolerated. We will continue working closely with local law enforcement."
