Umalis sa Los Angeles si LeBron James nitong free agency, nagkaroon ng roster reconstruction ang Lakers.
Basag na ang dating core ng LA, bagong kumbinasyon naman pagpasok ng 81st NBA 2026-27 season.
Klaro ang deklarasyon ni coach JJ Redick na iginuhit na sa pader sina guards Luka Doncic at Austin Reaves, kasama si center Walker Kessler bilang starters ng team.
Pero nag-aagawan pa sa three at four positions.
“The other spots will not be two white guys,” biro ni Redick.
Sa kabilang banda, sinabi ni general manager Rob Pelinka na nagkaroon din ng tatlong target ang team nitong offseason.
Una ay muling mapapirma si Reaves, na nitong July ay pumayag sa four-year, $180 million (P11.2 bilyon) max contract. Nangarap din ang team na kumuha ng ‘franchise center’ na itatabi kay Doncic.
Pumirma si Kessler ng four-year, $130M (P8.1B) deal sa LA. Para makuha ang big man, pinamigay ng Lakers ang ilang draft assets sa Utah Jazz bilang bahagi ng trade. Kasama rito ang unprotected first round picks sa 2031 at 2033, at first-round swaps sa 2028 at 2030.
Bumata ang Los Angeles paglipat ni James sa Philadelphia 76ers.
Si Kessler ay 25 years old lang, 24 si Ziaire Williams. Si guard Quentin Grimes ay 26, edad 27 lang din sina guard Collin Sexton at forward Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Inaasahang gagamitin sa lineup bilang small forward si Grimes, samantalang sina Jake LaRavia at Mamukelashvili ang inaasahang kukumpleto sa role bilang starting power forward. (Vladi Eduarte)
