COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) – After U.S. President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iran's key nuclear facilities, while hinting at more potential strikes, WRBL News 3 spoke with individuals in the Columbus area who provided their thoughts on America's involvement in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
Residents and visitors in Columbus provided mix reactions to the president's call to send a strike to Iran with some providing understanding, while others believe it all could have been avoided and feel worry about possible ongoing retaliation in the Middle East.

"I don't like the whole idea of war...but sometimes it's a necessary evil. So, there was some items that were happening that if we chose not to join or chose not to do what we did, then that would've exacerbated," said one visitor.

She added, "on the flip side of that I am very nervous because we are actually here visiting our son... so I am very scared about the troops having to go over there."
WRBL spoke with a man in the area who would rather have diplomacy instead of war.
"I mean I don't like it. I would rather make for a diplomatic solution, I guess," said the man.
Trump has now doubled down and is warning of more potential strikes in the Middle East if a satisfactory peace agreement isn't reached.

"I don't think it was a good idea," said another resident. "I definitely think that congressional approval should've been granted before firing."

Other political leaders and key figures provided reactions following the strikes on Iran's nuclear sites, which include U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff and Auburn Men's Basketball Head Coach Bruce Pearl.
The strikes has now raised various concerns about the U.S. involvement in the Middle East and are bracing for what could be next for the nation and other counties within the next coming days.
Since then, Iran says it launched an attack on U.S. forces at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base on Monday, which was confirmed by AP News.
