Dangerous heat continues; Watching the tropics

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)- For the rest of your Saturday evening, we are watching a few stray storms across Alabama. Stray storms are possible for the remainder of our evening, but most areas will stay dry.

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center has identified a potential area of development later next week in the Gulf. This area has a 20% of development over the next 7 days.

Tomorrow: Temperatures will keep rising on Sunday. Readings will sit in the upper 90s, with feel-like temps in the lower 100s. Isolated storms will remain in the forecast for the end of the weekend.

Monday & Tuesday: Another dangerous heat wave will continue to build for the start of the week. Expect heat index readings up to 105 degrees both afternoons. We will have few chances for rain to cool us off.

Rest of the Week: Starting at the middle of the week, we will trade the heat for the rain. Scattered showers and storms will build each afternoon. These high rain chances will continue through next weekend. Meanwhile, heat index temps will cool into the low-mid 90s.
