Pinag-aaralan na ng Department of Finance (DOF) at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ang pagtaas ng tax-exempt ceilings para sa benepisyo ng mga manggagawa sa pampubliko at pribadong sektor.
Ayon sa DOF nitong Sabado, Oktubre 25, tugon ang naturang hakbang sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. para sa kapakanan ng mga manggagawa.
Inihayag din ni Marcos ang panukalang ito ng DOF sa kanyang talumpati bago bumiyahe patungong Malaysia para dumalo sa 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits.
Kabilang naman sa mga benepisyong planong itaas ang tax-exempt ceilings, batay sa proposed adjustments ng DOF ang monetized unused vacation leave ng mga pribadong empleyado na mula 10 araw ay gagawing 12 araw.
Gayundin ang medical cash allowance para sa dependents na mula P1,500 gagawing P2,000 bawat semester; rice subsidy na mula P2,000 tungong P2,500 bawat buwan; uniform at clothing allowance na mula P7,000 tungong P8,000 bawat taon; at actual medical assistance na mula P10,000 tungong P12,000 bawat taon.
Kasama rin ang laundry allowance na mula P300 tungong P400 bawat buwan; employee achievement awards na mula P10,000 tungong P12,000 bawat taon; at Christmas o anniversary gifts namula P5,000 tungong P6,000 bawat taon.
Kasama pa ang meal allowance para sa overtime o night shift work na mula 25% tungong 30% ng minimum wage at CBA at productivity incentives na mula P10,000 tungong P12,000 bawat taon.

Bukod pa rito, inatasan din ang BIR na pag-aralan ang posibleng exemptions ng ilang mga taxpayer sa withholding at remittance ng creditable withholding taxes, at gawing simple at ibaba ang tax rates upang mapagaan ang compliance costs.
