Sa dalawang sunod na araw, tatlong empleyado ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang pinosasan sa magkahiwalay na entrapment operation ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) dahil sa umano’y pangingikil at pagbabanta.
Inaresto sa loob ng BOC headquarters sa Intramuros, Maynila noong Miyerkoles ng hapon si Special Agent 1 Warren Reyes na nakatalaga sa Port of Manila, saad sa NBI report.
Martes ng hapon naman dinakip sina Customs Appraiser Zosimo Bello at Port of Manila examiner Bong Seletaria sa loob ng Harbor View Restaurant sa Ermita, Maynila dahil din sa umano’y extortion activities.
Kinasa ng NBI-Special Action Unit ang operasyon laban kina Reyes batay sa reklamo ng isang onion broker na nagsabing nanghingi ang suspek ng P50,000 kada container para mailabas ang kanyang cargo.
“The cargo has already been released because the victim promised to pay the P200 thousand,” ani NBI-SAU executive officer Kristine de la Cruz.
“However, the broker claimed he was forced to report to authorities because of fear for his life and for his business. The Customs employees allegedly threatened the victims problems of their warehouse and importation documents, if they fail to pay the agreed amount,’’ sabi pa ng NBI officer.
