Pinuna ng isang kongresista ang paglobo diumano ng budget para sa farm-to-market road (FMR) sa mga lugar na kilalang balwarte ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Ayon kay House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro, kapansin-pansin ang pagtaas ng FMR budget para sa Ilocos Norte at Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) sa ilalim ng 2023 General Appropriations Act.
Ang Ilocos Norte ang home province ng pangulo at ang Eastern Visayas region naman ay rehiyon ng mga Romualdez.
“These two regions are the top recipients of farm-to-market roads under the budget of the Department of Agriculture for next year and it seems that this is political payback in the way of a hefty budget allocation for the politicians in these regions,” sabi ni Castro.
Ayon kay Castro, ngayong taon ay pito lamang ang FMR project sa Ilocos Norte pero lumobo ito sa 79 proyekto sa 2023. Sa Region 8, mula sa P513 milyong pondo para sa FMR ngayong taon ay umakyat umano ito sa P1.612 bilyon sa 2023.
“It (budget for FMR of two regions) grew from P568 million in 2022 to P2.038 billion for 2023, this is almost 4x the current FMR funds,” sabi ni Castro. (Billy Begas)
