Russell County Sheriff’s Office launches program to help inmates rejoin the outside world

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — The Russell County Sheriff’s Office has launched a national program inside its jail to help inmates rejoin the outside world when they are released.

The Inmate Growth Naturally & Intentionally Through Education or I.G.N.I.T.E is a program aimed at helping inmates learn job skills in order to help them find a job once they are released. The ultimate goal is to help former inmates stay out of jail.

The program has been implemented at jails across the country, but more recently at the Montgomery County Jail.
