Mas pabor si Senador Sherwin Gatchalian na pamunuan pa rin ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson ang Blue Ribbon Committee dahil kabisado nito ang modus sa flood control scam kaya magiging mabilis ang isinasagawa nilang imbestigasyon.
Ito ang sagot ni Gatchalian sa panayam ng broadcast journalist na si Pinky Webb sa programang “On Point” ng Bilyonaryo News Channel nang tanungin siya tungkol sa posibleng pagbabalik ni Lacson bilang chairman ng nasabing komite.
“If you backtrack this flood control mess, it was Sen. Lacson who brought it up through his privilege speech. He brought up the modus of those unscrupulous individuals in government. He brought up the names, importante names eh…. He even brought up the casino habits of these individuals. He even brought up how the documents were doctored so that ghost projects can flourish,” paliwanag ni Gatchalian kay Webb.
“So in other words, he knows all of these things eh, and for me, since he has already investigated this issue, it’s better for him to continue to be the chair because he can definitely drive the investigation faster because of his prior knowledge about this issue,” dagdag pa niya.
Matatandaang nagbitiw si Lacson bilang chairman ng Blue Ribbon Committee dahil hindi umano nagugustuhan ng ilan sa kanilang mga kasamahan ang takbo ng imbestigasyon sa flood control scam. May ilang senador na dawit sa mga maanomalyang flood control project ng Department of Public Works and Highways.
Sa isang panayam kamakailan, sinabi ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III na maaaring bumalik si Lacson bilang Blue Ribbon chair.
Tatalakayin sa balik-sesyon ng Senado ang isyu sa liderato ng nasabing komite.
