Posible umanong maharap sa ethics complaint si Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste kaugnay ng kuwestiyonable umanong pagkuha nito ng mga dokumento mula sa nama¬yapang si Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Usec. Maria Catalina Cabral.
Ito ang sinabi ni House Committee on Public Accounts chairperson at Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon matapos lumabas ang ulat na puwersahan umanong kinuha ni Leviste ang mga dokumento na tinatawag ngayong Cabral files.
“When the acquisition of the evidence itself is under question, institutions cannot afford to look the other way,” sabi ni Ridon. “Congress has a responsibility to protect the integrity of its processes, the rule of law, and public trust.”
Sinabi ni Ridon na habang nagpapatuloy ang balitaktakan kaugnay ng authenticity ng Cabral files, hindi umano maaa¬ring isantabi kung legal ba ang pagkakakuha ng Cabral files na naglalaman ng mga alokasyon ng bawat distrito.
Itinanggi naman ni Leviste na ilegal ang pagkakakuha nito ng files mula kay Cabral.
“I vehemently deny any allegation that I illegally obtained files from DPWH,” sabi ni Leviste. (Billy ¬Begas)
