Aminado ang kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte na malaking banta para sa kanyang kampanya para sa 2028 presidential elections ang mga kinakaharap na impeachment complaint sa Kongreso.
Ayon kay Atty. Michael Poa, isa sa mga abogado ni Duterte, siguradong maaapektuhan ang pagtakbo ng Bise Presidente sa pagkapangulo kapag nahatulan siya sa impeachment trial.
“Of course, the impeachment is isang pinakabalakid talaga for the presidential campaign… because obviously, if she gets impeached, she will be disqualified,” sabi ni Poa sa panayam sa programang “The Spokes” ng Bilyonaryo News Channel.
Kaya nakapokus aniya ang buong defense team ni Duterte para sagutin lahat ng legal grounds kaugnay ng impeachment complaints laban sa Bise Presidente.
Kasabay nito, nais din nilang ipaliwanag sa publiko ang lahat ng isyu laban kay Duterte para maunawaan umano ng mga tao.
“We’re doing all we can to not only protect her legally, but even to simplify the issues to the public para maintindihan nila,” ayon kay Poa.
Sa ngayon aniya prayoridad ng defense team na harapin ang mga isyu sa impeachment laban kay Duterte bago pa man nila ikonsidera ang mga susunod na hakbang sakaling mahatulan ang Bise Presidente.
“I don’t want to speak for her. But at least from my personal view, the (Vice President) has always seen the presidency as a sort of destiny,” sabi ni Poa. “Kung ibibigay sa kanya, ibibigay na sa kanya. Kung hindi, hindi… We’re not even thinking about the legal strategy after because right now, we’re focused on winning this thing.”
Inihayag pa ni Poa na 2023 pa nakahanda na sila sa posibleng impeachment trial laban kay Duterte.
“We have always been expecting the full-blown trial kahit noong 2025,” ani Poa.
Nilinaw din niya na bagama’t 16 ang abogado sa defense team ni Duterte, karamihan aniya sa mga ito ay miyembro ng law firm na humahawak sa kaso ng Bise Presidente.
“When you say 16, I think we have to put this in context. Kasi `pag lumalabas sa news, parang ang dami-daming abogado. But we are collaborating with a law firm, which is Fortun Narvasa and Salazar. Doon sa law firm na `yun, siyempre may assigned team,” paliwanag pa ni Poa.
