Nais malaman ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte kung magkano pa sa P34.7 bilyong pang-ayuda sa mga maliliit na negosyante sa tourism sector ang natitira.
Ayon kay Villafuerte magandang malaman kung gaano karaming negosyante at magkano ang nautang ng mga ito sa pondong inilaan sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2 law.
“Given President Marcos’ apt push for tourism infrastructure, it seems appropriate for the DOT (Department of Tourism) to tell us how much of the P34.72-billion bailout fund for Covid-hit businesses under Bayanihan 2 had actually been released to rescue resort operators and other financially distressed entrepreneurs and establishments in the tourism industry,” sabi ni Villafuerte.
Batay sa inisyal na ulat na nakuha ni Villafuerte konti lamang ang kumuha ng pautang ng gobyerno sa sektor ng turismo.
Nais ding malaman ni Villafuerte kung saan gugugulin ng DOT ang alokasyon nito para sa imprastraktura sa ilalim ng ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure development program ng administrasyong Marcos.
Ayon sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) mayroong P133 bilyon sa susunod na taon na nakalaan para sa mga kalsada at P15.7 bilyon dito ang nakalaan para sa mga kalsada patungo sa tourism destination, airport, at seaport.
Sinabi ni Villafuerte na mahalaga ang imprastraktura sa pag-unlad ng turismo.
Umaasa si Villafuerte na matutupad ni DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco ang pangako nito na susuportahan ang mga tourism spot na hindi pa sumisikat. (Billy Begas)
